English madrigal writer, William Cornysh provides the original work for this stylistic piece while the addition of the flute and hand drum, by the arranger completes this lively chorus. If performed with energy and rhythmic articulation, the natural inflections of the English text will sing themselves! Parts are provided for both flute and hand drum in the printed choral.

‚Eine kunstvolle spätbarocke Passionsmotette des von den Zeitgenossen vor allem als Opernkomponist geschätzten Davide Perez (1711-1782) über den bekannten Text aus der Leidensgeschichte Jesu. Angeregt von dieser Komposition schrieb der Komponist Enjott Schneider sein Werk “Tenebrae“ für Sopran, Violine und Orgel (ED9668). Es liegt nahe, zur Umrahmung des “Tenebrae“ die Motette von Davide Perez von einem Chor a cappella aufführen zu lassen.‘
