In Kim André Arnesen’s Stabat Mater, welches den Text des Stabat mater dolorosa verwendet, bringt der sechste Satz Virgo virginum musikalisch eher die Hoffnung als die Trauer zum Ausdruck. Für eine eigenständige Ausgabe dieses Satzes hatte der Komponist das Gefühl, dass ein neuer Text angemessener wäre. Daher war er begeistert, mit dem Stabat Mater speciosa einen spiegelbildlichen Text mit der gleichen Struktur gefunden zu haben. Darin wird die Gottesmutter Maria nicht in Schmerzen unter dem Kreuz beschrieben, sondern in Freude bei der Geburt ihres Sohnes. Arnesens charakteristische attraktive Melodie schwebt über einem fließenden Dreiertakt zunächst nur in der Begleitung, später verstärkt durch die begleitenden Harmonien der anderen Chorstimmen. Ein anziehendes, sanftes Stück, das sich nicht nur für die Weihnachtszeit eignet.

Georg Kreisler – das ist scharfer, tiefsinnig schwarzer Humor!Die Singphoniker haben Georg Kreislers bekannteste Lieder für Männerensemble arrangiert und auf CD aufgenommen. Die zugehörige Notenausgabe für gemischten Chor SATB mit Klavierbegleitung ist bei Schott Music erschienen (Georg Kreisler – Lieder und Chansons, ED 22737). Ergänzend dazu sind Einzelausgaben aller Lieder aus dem Notenalbum erhältlich:Warum sind die Leute so feige? Nach Gesellschaftskritik folgt Resignation. Kreislers sonst so humoristisch-kritische Art mündet hier in die schlichte Frage: Warum? Er fragt nach dem Grund für Trägheit, Fügsamkeit und Anpassung in der Gesellschaft. Die Forderung nach Ausbruch aus dieser Lethargie, die jedoch eher halbherzig ausgesprochen wird, beschließt das Werk.
