‘Copyright issue with text. Tuikkikaa, oi joulun tähtöset is one of the most popular of all Finnish Christmas carols. Its text was written by Elsa Koponen, a teacher, who remarked on how eagerly her young pupils sang the Christmas songs, their eyes shining as brightly as the stars in the sky. This joy is tinged with sadness in the mournfully beautiful melody, composed for this text by Pekka Juhani Hannikainen (published in 1918), and in Kostiainen”s somewhat nostalgic harmonization.’
