This hymn-anthem of thanksgiving begins gently and tenderly, but builds to a rousing climax. It culminates with a verse of the hymn Now thank we all our God (which may be sung by the congregation in addition to the choir), underlaid by a powerful organ part and with a soaring descant line above.
